Visionary of Lourdes and Witness of Humility

St. Bernadette Soubirous was a young girl from Lourdes, France, who came from a poor and humble family. In 1858, she experienced a series of apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary in a grotto near her town.
The Lady she saw identified herself as the Immaculate Conception and asked for prayer and repentance. During one apparition, Bernadette was instructed to dig in the ground, where a spring of water began to flow—now known for many reported healings.
Despite attention, skepticism, and questioning from authorities, Bernadette remained simple, honest, and faithful. She never sought fame or recognition.
Later, she entered religious life and lived quietly as a nun, offering her suffering and daily life to God.
St. Bernadette is remembered for her humility, purity of heart, and unwavering trust in God and Our Lady.
